This was on our Matura Reise when we went to Croatia. We rented a small ship (it looked a bit like an old pirate ship...) with twelve cabins and cruised along the coast visiting various islands.

I like to: Play with puppies, design and sew patchwork quilts (or just about anything else I happen to feel like sewing), watch romantic comedies (preferably classic ones with Audrey Hepburn and/or Cary Grant), write stories, sing when no one's listening, read very fat novels, make unhealthy desserts (and, sadly, I enjoy eating them, too...), spend time with friends, daydream, travel around the world, cut my own hair, take very long bubble baths, drink Austrian dessert wine, go shopping at second hand clothes stores (you can buy three times as much for the same amount of money!), change my room around, walk in the forest (preferably with a friend), drink way too much coffee, and do romantic things with God.

I don't like to: Think too much about politics (it gives you a headache after a while...), miss the train, get lost (unless it's with a friend, then it can be funny...), go jogging, gain weight, be flirted with, be in akward situations, cry, break a nail, spend too much money, get sunburnt, or have any type of bug in my room.

How I got to know Jesus: I became a Christian on the 1. of January, 2000. (Easy date to remember, eh?) I had believed in God all my life, had learned about Him in Sunday School, prayed before I'd gone to bed, tried to be a "good" girl, but that day I realized I had never actually given my life over to Him. We were celebrating New Year's Eve at our church. The man who was our pastor at that time, Hans Reist, was preaching. He died of leukemia a few years later. I can't remember what the theme of his sermon was, but while I was listening I felt a longing for more. I wanted to get to know God for real. He has done so much for me (and you!). I asked Him to come into my heart, and instantly I felt filled up with His love! It was like all of my troubles were gone and I was full of joy! He has changed (and is still changing) my life completely.

Future plans: The next four years I plan to study at the PHBern, learning to teach all the way from kindergarden to the 6th grade. After that I'd like to work in an orphanage somewhere for about half a year or so, though I'm not sure how that'll work yet. If possible I would love to do that somewhere in Texas, but we'll see. After that I would really, really love to do an SBS (School of Biblical Studies) from YWAM (Youth With A Mission), most likely in Taiwan, or wherever God leads me.
All of these things are actually leading up to something that I believe God's placed on my heart: I have a desire to go to Russia to work with unwanted children. I don't know when or even where (Russia is the biggest country in the world after all), but I'm confident that if this is truly God's will, then He'll make sure the right doors are open at the right time.

This is my dad. My dad is a very good piano player, though for some strange reason he always seems to think he's not good enough. He's also a pilot, a mechanic, a "Evolution versus Creation" expert, and Island (and volcano) fanatic and a cheese connaisseur. ;-)

My mom just finished her dissertation, "Developing a Framework for Designing a Diagnostic Instrument for Oral Skills Assessment," which means she now is a Doctor of Philosophy in Teaching English as a Foreign Language! (Whew, lots of long words there, eh? What it translates to is that she's very smart, she did an awful lot of hard work, and now gets to call herself a really cool title for it. :-)) Apart from being a very gifted English teacher, a great listener and a general problem-solver, she also makes fantastic brownies and guacamole. (Though not to be eaten together...)

Happy moment: Alright, I'm not saying I was never as happy before in my entire life, but this was certainly memorable. If you know me you'll know that I love dogs and absolutely adore puppies... Well, one Sunday morning me and my parents went to Grindelwald to my great-uncle Christian's house, where my dad then had a sermon in their house church. We were all in their living room, and suddenly from the next room I heard some funny noises but I couldn't tell what they were. Afterwards we were invited for lunch, and there they were! Four of the most adorable puppies you've ever seen! I'm not 100% sure, but I think they were Entelbuch Mountain Dogs. (Click here if you'd like to inform yourself about this breed.) They were still quite little, only four weeks old, but big enough to walk and make cute little attempts at barking. Eventually I found myself sitting on the floor stroking one puppy that was asleep on my lap with one hand, playing with another puppy with my other hand, while the other two were climbing over my legs and chewing on my feet. I can't find words to describe how content I felt. Let's just say I felt pretty blue when we had to leave and couldn't take any of them with us... ;-)
